The cherimoya is native to Africa and America. It comes from the Andes, Peru and Ecuador. There are prehistoric in which it is found that the Cherimoya already existed at that time. The Spanish explorers brought it to Africa and from there taken to the East. It is a subtropical plant family of the genus Annonacéas of Annona. It's a very fragile fruit, which has caused a global marketing limited. Mainly consumed and produced in Peru, Ecuador, Chile, Bolivia, Colombia, Spain, USA, South Africa and Israel. In Spain, custard apples are much appreciated, and are becoming more popular.
