The cabbage is native to Europe. Brussels Sprouts are native to northern Europe, particularly in northern France and Belgium, hence the name, by Brussels, the capital of Belgium. And these need a cold, wet weather to be cultivated. The countries that consume it are: France, Belgium, Holland, Germany and the UK. Cabbage belongs to the Cruciferae family and is grown in fields. There are many species of this genus, but of the same family we have Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. They need a temperate climate. They all contain sulfur, which is a potent antioxidant.
